Photographs

Oh dear – these can really eat a hole into your money. The amount, style and quality of your wedding photographs is only limited by your budget. It’s wonderful to have a record of your wedding but you really have to decide what you want to spend your money on.

Will just photos be enough? Or do you need a full scale video recording? Do you engage a professional photographer or perhaps ask a family friend?  (like many people, I can relate a horror story about the wedding photos) Whichever way you decide, there are lots of alternatives to consider –

  • Buy a few disposable cameras and ask several guests to take the pictures for you. Generally, the developing is included in the price of the camera
  • Approach a photography school and ask if their students might like to use your wedding as a project. Offer to purchase their  best shots
  • If you decide on a professional, decide beforehand how much you have to spend and what you need. Be very clear in your conveying your wishes, and don’t be talked into a more expensive package.
  • The full length framed photo is gorgeous for the first few years, but you’ll need a very large wall to hang it on and it’ll probably cost you the same as a mortgage payment.

Focuses on a wedding planning checklist and budget worksheet to provide detailed information about the expenses that are typically incurred during a wedding and how to afford them, in a reference for engaged couples that addresses such issues as etiquette, monetary pitfalls, and schedule issues.
